This 1960s house with concrete block walls had been problematic for 40 plus years. How do we know that?... by the styles of clothing that had been used by the previous homeowner Granny to stuff the blocks against water and cold air penetration. The next homeowner had jackhammered little groove trenches all over the floor leading to the floor drain. They had even tried an Exterior Hydrovac Culvert with a pump in it to pump "ground water table" but that just made it easier for the rain to get to the basement level alongside the dig created in the soil. The basement was STILL wet most of the year.
Basement Systems Saskatchewan installed their WaterGuard piping system with CleanSpace wall wrap to catch any wall cracks, form tie and cold joint leaks directly into the system and take all the water collected to the Triple Safe sump pump (three pumps including a battery backup pump in case of a power outage). When Anita was diagnosing this home's problems- she warned the homeowner that the old cast iron plumbing was likely rotted after 50 yrs and would probably need replacing. True to her suspicions, the sewer p-trap was rotted and leaking into the soil beneath the floor... pheewww! A licenced plumber was brought in to replace the 6' of sewer pipe and the waterproofing repair was completed. It's now dry as a bone inside and outside the two IceGuards allow the sump to drain all year round without freezing up. Jobs done Bob!!
(with the exception of the electrical outlets to be done by a licenced electrician yet, in after picture).
